Welcome!
Ok so this writing about myself business is a bit awkward. I mean, how do you get to know someone by reading a few sentences online? How do I write about my passion for birth and babies without it sounding generic and impersonal? I honestly have no idea.
In person, I tend to ramble on and think out loud. So I’ll go with that strategy here. At least I’m being authentic right?
I’m guessing that you’re visiting my page because you’re having a baby? Yay - congrats! Hopefully you are interested in having someone there to photograph your baby’s arrival… and hopefully it’s someone you will feel comfortable with and can relate to. I’ve been told I have a really calm and quiet demeanour - my two daughters might not agree with that (I mean, how many times do you have to tell a 4 year old to clean up her toys…??!!) When I attend a birth, I just go with the flow and capture what happens naturally. I’m not overly talkative with labouring women, unless they’re in the mood for a chat. I guess generally, I get along with most people in most situations.
I’ve been photographing births for about a year and a half. I completed a Diploma of Professional Photography and didn’t really have a clue what I was going to do with it. A good friend of mine was having a baby and she asked me to come along and capture it for her. Since then I’ve been hooked. I mean, who wouldn’t be? It’s such an awesome thing to witness, and being able to make memories of it for the parents is quite a privilege. You want to remember the first time you held your baby, your partners expression, the hand-holding and all of those little things you forget so quickly. I also think it’s great to show how incredibly strong women can be. Every time I’m at a birth I am reminded of how amazing and powerful we are. Regardless of where and how you bring your baby into the world. I am so grateful to all the families who have welcomed me into their birth space so far.
Now that I’ve rambled on, (how did I do??) if you want to know more, or are just keen to meet me in person to see if we’d be a good fit before booking, then send me a message or text and we can go from there.
Cath
